The construction isn't perfect, not like it would be if made by his friends and not a pretender, but it's definitely not clumsy or half-arsed in any way. The branch broke the structural integrity of the dome and caused it to collapse in on itself, but in the folding in of the ice hut it had somehow joined together again. Raju had gotten some of the blocks out of the way, but it's not going to be an easy climb out.
