Scratch, of course, has no idea who Louis is, but at least she has some experience on repairs so it's worth entertaining her inquiry. It's the decision to pick a lesser of two evils to step aside and let her in. The cold is unpleasant and while inside isn't perfect, the heat from the stoves makes a noticeable difference.
