[ Lestat considers her for another long, still moment, his eyes catching the firelight to shine in a slightly peculiar fashion, nearly as metallic as Ruby's are.

Then he sighs, heavy and performative, and waltzes across the kitchen to pull open the icebox. It's as dead as every other electric appliance, but it's a convenient enough place to store the handful of water bottles he keeps for occasional guests. ]


What a curious shortcut you've taken, to come passing through my house.

[ He plunks a metal canteen down on the table. The water inside is stale, tinted with the flavour of the container it's been sitting in, but still potable. ]

If you're going to eat at my table, I insist you do it with a semblance of manners. Don't scoff your food like a wild boar. Small bites, and chew with your mouth closed. This isn't a cafeteria.
