Lalo coughs. He feels suddenly warm; his ears feel especially hot. He thinks he must be going into a hot flash from his fever. Or maybe it's the tea. He looks down at the mug in his hands, watching the coils of steam float up from the pale brown liquid inside it into the air.

"I think I need to get some sleep," he says.
