[ Hearing that makes him smile with some fond pride for the indomitable spirit that people have. Trying is the first step and for some that alone can be too big of one to take. Especially here, where just merely surviving takes so much effort, no one could be faulted for being too preoccupied to find a way back when such a thing seems impossible. They have no clues, nothing to really go off of that might help show the way, yet here at least someone else is also trying.
Vash is nodding along in agreement up until the attention is redirected to him and he falters. He could say yes, he has to go back at all costs too. Only that wouldn't quite be the truth.
