The Hat was a tool as much as it was a fashion statement - people found their way to the same point of view as Wynonna; couldn't imagine him with out, felt someway about the harbinger of brim and usually bad news with a pretty smile on their horizon. That gave him the leeway and flexibility to change himself, hide in plain sight with a lot more ease if he needed to.

He didn't get any joy or pleasure in Wynonna seeing him in the way he was right now - it was a source of some self loathing when he didn't have a cut and dry good reason, when he had to logic something into a shape that served him better than the raw truth. But there was nothing to be done about it now. Lives were in danger.

"Then I'll move with you for a bit, get you towards where you're goin'." They shouldn't stand around, it made them better targets. The makeshift bat is adjusted in his grip and were he a man with a lighter personality, might even have smiled.

"I'd still rather have my baseball bat, but it's gonna be a cold day in hell when fuckin' forest hippies get the drop on me." He points with a finger towards her knife. "Yours is better. Less effort to slit someone open. I seen people tryin' to talk to them. I'm gussin' you're not one of 'em."
