"So bold that it's become foolishness." James responds, tone darkening, though he's spending most of his focus now on once again trying to safely cut away the zip tie. "But at least this one had the sense to retreat." He's not sure if Goodsir might be wondering what had happened to his attacker, and he probably could've figured it out anyway considering there's no body laying in the snow, but James is speaking more to give Goodsir something to focus on than with the intention of sharing information.

Finally, he feels the zip tie give as his makeshift knife eventually cuts through it, and James shoves the remains of the plastic tie in his pocket along with his knife. It's destroyed, sure, but who knows, maybe it'll be useful for something, or at least he can figure out how it works.

But that's an issue for later; for now, he pats Goodsir gently on the upper arm in what he hopes is a reassuring gesture. "Done. Are you hurt at all?" He should've asked earlier, he realizes, but he'd been too laser focused on the immediate threat and then on trying to get Goodsir free so they can get out of the open.
