James frowns at the blood, but he also knows head wounds in particular usually look worse, so for the moment he'll accept Goodsir's assessment that it may not be so bad.

"They did." He confirms grimly, and although it might not be all that reassuring, he adds, "But that worked in our favor this time."

Of course whatever they'd had planned may have ended up being worse than simply killing Goodsir, but it also gave the opportunity for them to be stopped. However, the fact that they took the risk of being interrupted--as they were--means they thought the reward would be worth it, and James is very concerned they aren't done with the attempt just yet.
