There's no one Louis hates more than himself, so it's no surprise that he would have mixed feelings about anything that caused to look into a dark mirror. God is very far away from Louis's thoughts most of the time, but the Devil is his companion. Sometimes he wears Lestat's faceāor Lestat wears his, theatrical that he is. He likes to play the devil.
Louis is quiet a long while. He doesn't know the answer to his question, and his mind skitters and bounces about trying to figure it out. He searches Konstantin's face for any sign of aggression, green eyes sharp.
"It's what the hunger wanted," he settles on. "I like you, Konstantin. I don't think your... passenger likes me. I'm guessin' we're solitary creatures who need the bodies of others to survive."
Now Louis has to question whether he has more in common with the worm than Konstantin, and the thought revolts him because it's close to the truth.
