[ There's more than a few people who fit that bill, but he's seen Tim in passing and knows how it feels to lose a friend in already lousy circumstances. Pointing that out wouldn't do either of them any good. ]
Sorry. I haven't seen him. Until I came across you, I thought I was the only one over here.

Well, still in her room. ]
It's okay. [ Not really, but. It's not his fault he's not seen Tim. ] I just... don't know if— if someone's happened to him or— like if he's done something stupid?
[ Which is possible for Tim. ]
I'm just not sure where else I can be looking, really. I don't wanna consider the other option just yet.

[ It's a gentle offer, she's got the kind of tired eyes he's seen on Nancy or even Eddie before the end. That look of resignation that he has come to hate despite knowing why it exists and that it matters. It's just one more lump of sugar with bitter medicine, and he can't bring himself to get there, even though he's close.
The bag of scraps clinks in his hand, and he glances at her from beneath his brimmed tobogan hat. It covers his ears, not that his hair, overgrown and unkempt, doesn't also do a good job in that. ]
I'm sure he's fine. Maybe we can look for him together?

But she does appreciate what he's getting at, and the offer makes her blink — even if she doesn't immediately take it. She genuinely touched by it. ]
Are you sure? [ She motions to the bad of scrap. ] You.. weren't in the middle of something?

[ A smile parts the tide of the concerned grimace on his features, and he hoists the bag when it's referenced, that grin broadening. ] Oh this? I can do this any time.
It's just busy work, and I can't even test if any of it will matter until the aurora so...

Okay. Thank you. Then— I guess there's maybe some houses in the outskirts I haven't checked out yet. We could head there.
[ It's as good a plan as any, Kate motions to head back out. ]
What're you planning on doing that stuff during the Aurora, anyways?

[ No doubt about that, she'd know if she were looking for Eddie, and she wouldn't confuse him with anyone else. Eddie Munson was ten thousand percent one of a kind. ]
I'm trying to build a GPR machine, or something like it. All this snow, there's gotta be something to it. Something more, maybe, underneath? I don't know. Just a theory.

[ She's guessing the British guy he's referring to is Charles — there's plenty of British men here but Charles is the only teenager now, as far as she knows. There was that other boy, the blonde one, quiet. He'd arrived the same time as she did, but he's gone now.
She frowns, not entirely sure what he means by a GPR. But from what he's describing makes her think of some kind of radar or detector. ]
Is that like a metal-detector or something? [ She hums, thoughtful. ] In all honesty, with all the snow I'd say you're probably worth considering in the sky than in the ground. Like, Global Warming or something. But then there's all the quakes that happen here too, so maybe you've got a point.

Do I know Eddie? He's my best friend.
[ Her concept, while not entirely incorrect, doesn't quite hit the mark, and Dustin grasps in the air for something not there. A gesticulation toward something more, but the foundationis close enough to find bearing. ]
Sort of. Like that and a radar. It'll show us shapes, maybe some heat signatures if I build it right. Big, big IF.
