[ Lalo gives her a (hopefully reassuring) smile back. ]

Hey! Thanks! What's your name, by the way? I've seen you around, but I don't think we've met.

[Ruby's expression slides into something a bit more relaxed and earnest.]

Don't mention it. I'm Ruby- And yeah. I've seen you around too- Was wondering where you went but yeesh. Looks like your trip didn't go all that well.

Hello, Ruby! [ He's warm and smiley, but a little bit more subdued than he might be with a fellow adult, because... well, she has a confident and likable air about her but she's still a teenage girl and he's still a creepy forty-year-old man. You gotta be careful with that shit. He glances at this injury, lifting the arm a little like he's trying to give her a better view. ]

Eesh. This? Ah, yeah. You haven't by chance noticed how aggressive the animals around here can be, have you?

[ He makes a face. ]

[And Ruby's eyes do follow the motions of his arm and winces just a little. She had definitely seen and received her fair share of injuries back at home, but that never made it super pleasant. She gives a nod at the question.]

I have noticed actually. They remind me a little more of the monsters back where I come from compared to normal animals.

They're far from friendly that's for sure.

[salamanca]

[ ???? ] "Monsters?" They have... monsters??... where you're from?

You're telling me! A wolf attacked me. That's how I got hurt.

[Yeah. That's about the reaction she was expecting.]

Yeah- In fact there are probably a lot more monsters out there than people. Not that I have a solid count on that, but they've got way more territory than us.

Yeowch. That sucks, bud. I'm glad you at least made it back here.

He tries to absorb what Ruby is saying. ]

More monsters than people? [ Lalo gives her a slightly incredulous look and shakes his head. But curiosity wins him over. ] So, what, do you fight them? Hide from them?

[ For some reason, being called "bud" delights him. ] Hey! Don't worry about me. I always come back. I'm like a cockroach. [ ^_~ ]
