Marksmanship
A few days after putting up his note, Levi has set up a little row of bottles and cans on a fence near the gas station. He's got a shotgun, a handgun (his back up gun) and a rifle (not his) so any prospective students can try them out. None are currently loaded, since ammo is limited and he's decided to go over form/basics before shooting.

If anyone shown interest in his lessons he'll be around adjusting things or gathering trash from around the gas station for people to shoot at. He's brought his bow and arrows, so occasionally he can be found doing his own target practice with that.

Bob and Weave
Earlier Rorschach had managed to find and set up a boxing bag in a garage. He even gave Levi some pointers, but now Levi's back on his own. He has his oversized coat off and his rifle and satchel resting against one of the walls and Levi is alternating between practicing his form vs the air and punching the bag. Aside from the lesson Rorschach gave him, he got a few boxing tips during those last few days in Prehevil, but he's still pretty new at it. Why not come by and chat? He may be able to pass on a few pointers even at this early a stage in his education.

Levi's not really sure what possessed him to eat that mushroom. Finding a lot of them seemed good, he started picking them so he could bring them back into town for easier access. But they all looked so good, he just had to have one.
He really wishes Olivia was here, though, she could have told him which ones not to eat. ~~Under normal conditions, at least.~~ Because as it turned out the one he picked as a snack was a horrible choice.

He doesn't notice anything at first, then it was just small things he could try to avoid looking at. (Because if something was wrong with him, he needed to not be in the woods.) He almost gets back to town before it all becomes too much. Before the sights and sounds and smells of the front line trenches and Prehevil intrude too much for him to continue.

The mushrooms have been forgotten, dropped on the ground in a little trail that will lead to Levi himself. He's huddled under a tree and clutching his rifle like the security blanket it is.

Yes, I've heard about the wolves. Strange that they're attacking less often, but perhaps you taught them a lesson.

I think we must have. But its also possible whatever was wrong with them is, uh, over. Either they got better or all the infected ones died.

I keep expecting it to happen again, though. At least they were loud.

From what I have seen so far, the horrors here are at least usually unique.

Yeah. We have wolves where I came from, but they didn't glow and they weren't so aggressive. And our snakes weren't nearly as big.

[The wolves, on the other hand, could be huge.]

So its all, like, sort of familiar but worse and more dangerous. I think we just have to be ready for anything.

And we see these snakes for a few weeks and then not again afterward. It does feel sometimes as if this place is throwing everything it has at us to see what sticks.

Its almost like it's throwing different things at us to see which does the most.

Or it could just be different things active in different times. I don't know if things are targeted at us or they just happen. Unless something is responsible and comes out and tells us I don't think we'll ever know, though.

They feel targeted, but it may simply be because we are the only people remaining here.

Yeah...it could be at this place instead of at us. But something DID bring us here, so I guess that still makes it at us.

That god doesn't seem pleased at our presence. I suppose a god could do anything.

Yeah. Gods can do all sorts of shit and they don't care about us. I think there are at least two here so that makes it even worse.

Do you think the woman whose voice we hear is a god as well?

I think so...she gave us those powers. Its the gods that grant magic where I come from. I'm not really sure why, but she doesn't seem to get along with Gro-goroth or whoever the other guy is.

I would imagine that any god of the world would not be well pleased by one of their fellows devouring it.

I guess not. But if he's a god of destruction so what else is he going to do? Back where I come from the god of destruction destroys so the god of creation can create.

I see. That's an interesting perspective. Keeping us alive must factor into this other god’s agenda in some way.

Love for humans doesn't seem like enough.

I don't know if I'd trust a god's love.

[One of his gods loved humans, but it ended up in an age of orgies that has thankfully ended.]

[Norse gods can be just as capricious and mercurial as humans, if not more so.]

[He sighs and nods, then turns back to the guns.]

Um, anyway, a hand gun like this can be used with just one hand. Though when you start off you should use two. The recoil can be a lot more than expected.

[He's not sure she'd have anything comparable, really.]

Using two hands to get aim down isn't a bad strategy either, but if something is close enough you can just point and shoot.

[He holds the gun out to her.]

Its not loaded, if you want to look at it up close.

[Randvi takes the weapon in her hands, a bit surprised at the weight of it. She turns it over and examines the moving parts.]

How do you load it?

[Levi takes the gun back and flips it open.]

The bullets go into the cylinder. This one you have to load each bullet on its own, so its usually best to have it full if you think there might be trouble.

[He closes it up again.]

Right now, though, I'd like to show you how to hold it correctly.

I see. Easier to manage than a crossbow.

[Randvi looks on with interest. It's similar to things she recognizes, yet so different at the same time.]

All right.

I don't really know anything about crossbows...but guns are usually pretty easy to load. You can mess it up, though, especially if you're rushing.

[He holds the gun out to her again.]

[She takes the gun back, holding it a bit awkwardly as she tries to work out how it's done based on the shape.]

I’d imagine so, if explosives are involved.

They won't explode on their own, but sometimes guns misfire and don't properly shoot. That can end up with a much harder kickback than you were expecting and a jammed gun. Thankfully it doesn't happen much.

[If allowed, he'll guide her on how to hold the gun properly.]
