The immediate life-improvement of a good door [open]
Who: Uzi and you!
What: Remodeling, working, trying not to care (caring a lot)
When: This month
Where: Milton
[A: On the maintenance crew]
[So! Things suck, and people are dying! Uzi's been ruminating on those helpful facts for the last few weeks. Holed up in the Milton gas station, as she is, it feels a lot like home; wasting the days away, waiting for an undeserved death. God, makes her feel just like her dad.
Fortunately, that is the thought that finally gets Uzi off her butt and moving. There's some tools in the gas station, enough for what she needs. Not much in the way of signage though...
Hence why you may spot some... "signs" around Milton, i.e. graffiti written on the sides of some random shacks. Nothing spectacular, it's quick and to the point: come to gas station for reinforced housing (or dont idc)
Truly, this was the bane of Uzi's life - deciding to lean into the "family business". If Khan were here he'd probably overload, watching her mill about the gas station, dragging random junk into one spot where she could start breaking it down. Wooden planks, an oil drum, a car door she'd managed to remove from a nearby frame. Half of that is going up on her own place of residence. It's a busy day, but anything to keep the Darkwalker out at this point.]
[B: Gun nut(s and bolts)]
[Maybe you turn up on the occasion that Uzi isn't working outside. The door to the gas station is open, and inside, you'll spot the teenage robot well and truly distracted as teens often are. Though, the thing she's distracted by happens to be the strange gun on the main counter that she's tinkering with. So, she's really one of several teens who should be considered outliers and not the norm.
You can't really hum nightcore, either. So there's just discordant mumbling as she works - least until she finally notices that someone else is here.]
Whoa! Whoa! Knock much?!

Once again, he doesn't apologize for sneaking up on her, instead peering at her living space and looking at everything she's made with a curious and evaluating hum.]
I see you went with my suggestion. [Apparently he's taking credit for the gas station base.] Did the gun arrive with you?

[Her living space is... sparse but cluttered. Less of the amenities Damian may have expected a human to have, but Uzi's still made this place her own. The main living quarters was further inside. Here, she had converted into another workbench, because one wasn't enough. A shelf in here had been knocked over and dragged to a side, the other held an assortment of random car parts.]
...Yeah. It's mine.
B
When Uzi jumped a bit at his presence, he raised a hand, and belatedly knocked on the doorframe. See, he had a sense of humor from time to time!]

...
[She blinks at Roschach, clearly unamused.]
You gonna just stand there, now?
no subject
[Should that have been anyone instead? Rorschach wasn't really sure how to define such a strange little critter as the robot that stood before him.]
B
[Levi has the good sense to look ashamed about startling her, at least. He was going to say something as he approached to see what she was doing but he spotted the gun and took a few moments to wonder at it.]
Is that your, um, railgun?
[She mentioned something like that before...well, thought about it really loudly. He's kind of excited to see it.]
no subject
Yeah my supposed-to-be-sick-as-hell railgun.
[He's free to look. She sits back, head in her hand. Sulking.]
Now, it's the world's coolest paperweight.
no subject
...I'd offer to help but it doesn't really look like any guns I've seen or used. It still looks cool, though.

[...]
Do humans even have those?
no subject
I don't even know what any of those words mean.
no subject
I just wish I knew why no tech seems to work around here besides me.
no subject
Does it work at all during the auroras? When power comes to everything else...I don't know. Something here messes with people and things.
B
Which leads her to squeal and fall back when Uzi finally notices her snooping here.]
I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
But is that the Railgun you were thinking about the other month? It's so cool!

Uzi grabs for a carton of oil - with straw in the opening - and takes a long swig, wiping her jaw.]
It's.... ugh, fine. I guess. Come on in.
[Gestures to her useless gun.]
Yeah, that's my cool gun that should be working.
no subject
Ruby steps in and gives Rail Gun a look with wide and amazed eyes.]
Oh my gosh! It is so cool. It's perfect in every way!
[But she pauses and notices Uzi's mood and she pulls her eyes off the gun for a moment.]
If it makes you feel any better. I don't think it's anything wrong with it. My rifle hasn't been working since I got here either.
It's this place.
no subject
[But Ruby's pretty good at raising Uzi's mood, whether she knows that or not. And hey, recognition for her efforts!]
Oh. It's pretty cool, yeah. No big deal. But I totally took down a couple of killers with it.
[And then they became her friends! Funny how life works.]
