[ Well, it'd be harder not to return such a pleasant smile as that, even for a man as austere as Irving... his own, perhaps, not being quite as open or unguarded, but it is a smile, and sincere enough if still somewhat shyly subdued.

Irving clears his throat, fidgeting bashfully with his hat. Despite knowing Lalo must be talking to him, as there is currently no one else around, he throws a glance over his shoulder anyway as if expecting to see some more deserving candidate standing behind him. ]

O-oh, well... sadly I fear that may be quite unlikely, although I should hope that the same would prove equally true in reverse.

[ He... actually does tend to have pretty bad luck, more often than not, although never has he been accused of causing it in others. A small blessings, maybe.

Not that he strictly believes in luck, per se, anyway. ]

In fact, I believe it's really far more a matter of patience than "luck." [ His expression tenses, tightens, though his smile perseveres. ] A gambler puts his faith in luck, but men of God know better, don't we?
