still, even if the place is shit, even if there's an unease that she can't shake, there are aspects of it that are better than other places she's been. for one, she can actually move around freely, with no cells or cuffs in sight — which puts it above where she'd spent much of the last six months, as well all of her other stints in imperial prison. from sunrise to sunset, that's how she can be found: wandering. starting at the house she sleeps in on bear's bend, she makes her way around milton, gathering what supplies she can find and poking her head inside some of the buildings she encounters, looking for threats or anything she otherwise needs to know about. these are all basic steps, ones she'd be stupid not to take; saw had taught her better than that.
that, though, only fills so much time. one day, when jyn is particularly bored and tired of walking around in the cold, she lingers in the community hall, using what paper she's found and a writing instrument to spend some time creating this wonderful work of art. she can be seen poring over that, and carefully deciding its position to post on the message board, before she leaves.
on other days, she makes it as far as the outskirts before she turns back, the blaster that she knows doesn't work gripped tightly in one hand and her truncheon in the other, on high alert for any shift in the air, or any of the slightest sounds coming from nearby.
anyone who happens to sneak up on her at just the wrong moment might experience jyn whirling around quickly on her heel, and experience the brunt of her unhesitating force — either in the form of her fist or her metal blunt weapon. either way, it's going to hurt.
sorry.]
your picture doesn't work, btw
What're you making?

The outskirts are a good place to do some jogging. He likes to visit town when he can, ever a sociable man in search of others to interact with (and in attempts to keep an eye on what's going on in this place), but there are days when Konstantin's.... "condition" is worse, and he can't make it quite so far. Has to stick closer to home, just in case. So he's getting in his physical exercise out here, and zoning out just enough that he doesn't quite catch the crunch of footsteps against snow that might be coming from nearby. Assuming he's alone, he's jogging his way around an old abandoned shed when he realises there's someone else just up ahead.
He probably shouldn't come up behind anyone, but he is absolutely not expecting the young woman up ahead to be carrying the kind of weapon she is, or to immediately use it. He's lifting his hand in a wave that he readies to go along with a friendly greeting meant to announce his presence behind her, when suddenly she's turning around in a flash and striking at him. Luckily, he gets the fist, not the weapon — but maybe not too lucky after all; she packs quite the punch.
A very athletic man, Konstantin's usually on his A-game with things like reflexes and dodging, but after being infested with an entire alien entity that this place has weakened the hell out of, and in turn weakened him... he's not as sharp as he used to be. She gets him in the chest and he stumbles backwards, stunned and trying to find the breath that practically got knocked out of him, gasping sharply as he doubles over, one hand to his chest. But it's then that his eye catches that weapon she's carrying, and his alarm surges. He lifts one hand while the other stays on his chest, words layered in a thick Russian accent and an even thicker wheeze as he tries to find his voice. )
Wait, I'm not— I'm not going to hurt you—!

Nice. Real feeling in it.
bear’s bend
She makes the circuit around town herself often enough, both to ease her fears about the Forest Talkers and to improve her strength after the animal attack that had taken her right eye.
She's doing this today, a gangly big-footed wolf puppy at her right side, when she sees her neighbour heading out with purpose.]
Hello.
