She gasps a little at the final remark. "Ah! That is Sasha! She will give him many fine babies. Perhaps that is what happens - he comes on holiday and they make a baby so he must stay. And then he meets Pyotr and all is lost!"

She's giggling so hard she can hardly get the words out now.

Randvi giggles too, leaning close. “This man must truly be bewitching!”

She gestures to the snowman. "Look at him! He is truly beautiful!"

[meadqueen]

Randvi looks at it, still laughing. “I can say truthfully that he is one of the more beautiful snow people I have seen.”

[balancedlight]

She puts her hands on her hips. "Exactly. Now, I need to make someone else." She gestures to the snow. "And you are the perfect person to ask."

[meadqueen]

“Hm.” Randvi surveys the current snow group critically. “Who is this one?”

[balancedlight]

"You should name her," she says with an encouraging smile. "What is her story?"

[meadqueen]

“Katla,” Randvi says, unaware that she had spoken to Francis of her childhood companion just recently. “She wishes to see the wider world and is hoping to hitch her wagon to Dimitri.”

[balancedlight]

"Hitch her wagon," she laughs. "Yes! That's exactly it. Now, make her body. She must be very beautiful!"

[meadqueen]

Randvi starts to roll snow into the shape that she needs, while Ulfrùn dances around the two women, delighted by their laughter.

The real Katla’s body was sturdy and strong from youthful sailing adventures. Randvi does her best to communicate this in snow form.

Sveta watches her with a smile, taking a break to drink from her water bottle. "Katla seems like she will fit in here!" she teases.

[meadqueen]

Randvi smiles too. “Because she is beautiful, or because she loves someone unsuitable?”

[balancedlight]

Sveta grins. "Both, of course!"

[meadqueen]

“The two criteria of living in this little village,” Randvi says solemnly. “Along with perhaps attraction toward Pyotr.”

[balancedlight]

"No," she says, tapping her chin. "No, she is above that. Pyotr is not good enough for her."

[meadqueen]

“Ah, yes,” Randvi agrees. “She is destined for greater things.”

She smooths the last of the snow into place for the figure.

“I had a friend growing up named Katla. We dreamed of sailing to the edge of the world together.”

[balancedlight]

She stands up and wanders over to her, a hand on her shoulder. "What do you think is at the end of the world?"

[meadqueen]

“Jörmungandr,” Randvi says, a bit sheepishly. “The serpent that surrounds our world and holds himself by the tail. We did not know then that it was a ball like this. The world.”

[balancedlight]

"I like the serpent better," she tells her. "Will you tell me more of - J - " She winces, looking helplessly at her friend.

[meadqueen]

“Jörmungandr,” Randvi repeats with a little smile. “They call him the World Serpent. He is one of the children of Loki and the jotun Angrboda. Odin cast him from Asgard into the sea, where he grew to his current massive size. When he lets go of his tail, it is a sign of the end of the current world, as it is foretold that he will fight Thor to the death at Ragnarök.”

She looks a bit bashful. “We wanted to steal one of his scales for ourselves.”

Sveta's grin grows at the confession. "And what would you do with it? It would be massive, wouldn't it?"

She turns back around, looking over her shoulder. "Is it bigger than the creature in the lake?"

[meadqueen]

“Oh, much larger. Bigger still than the serpent that I slew with Renny upon my arrival.”

She laughs fondly at the other question. “We did not think so far ahead! We had spoken of having armour forged with it.”

[balancedlight]

"Armor!" She leans forward, resting her head on Randvi's shoulder. "What is wrong with the armor that you have?"

[meadqueen]

“I will not speak ill of Gunnar, he is a fine blacksmith and a good man. But is the armour that I wear now forged from the body of a beast destined to kill a god, or from ordinary deer leather and ore?”

There's clearly a right answer here, Sveta!

"Who are you planning on fighting that would require such armor?" she asks with a laugh. There is a right answer, but she's also going to make her point!
