awooooooo werewolves of milton
Who: open to all, with a special focus on #TeamMoonTouched
What: let's all get together and be a proper pack
When: forward dated slightly to late January/early February
Where: Milton, in and around the church to start with.
Content Warnings: n/a, will edit as needed
The day after the storm clears out, Hickey tacks up a note on the community hall message board. Ever since Raylan mentioned the idea of all those wolf-changed getting together to form a pack, to take down a deer or a moose in a communal hunt, it hasn't left Hickey's mind. There's at least four of them here, probably more. That's enough. They could absolutely take down a moose. They just need to get to know each other, figure each other out, and become more in-touch as a pack. Easy enough, yeah?
So he puts up his notice. And the evening of the meeting, Hickey gets his little soiree set up. He does have food: rabbit jerky, a few jars of pickled vegetables, bottles of water and a bottle of pine wine, all set out on a table he dragged out and placed near the pews. (He's a good host, dammit). The set-up is very informal: it's a place where everybody can chit-chat and get to know each other at the start. Gotta make sure everyone is comfortable before he makes his proposal, after all.
( ooc: feel free to use this as a mingle post! Make your own starters and tag around. While the note on the message board is specifically tailored to the Moon Touched folks, anyone is welcome to crash the party. )

morning
“Hey. What's up?”

Also as far as Hickey's concerned, Chloe gets him. So without any hesitation, he tells her his plan.
"I want us to form a wolf pack. There's at least four of us here. Working together, we can take down a deer. Hell, maybe even a moose."

“You’d trust the people here at your back? As wolves?”
no subject
And honestly, from who's appeared so far, Hickey trusts them as people. Chloe, Raylan, they're smart. They're sensible. They'll understand what Hickey's saying. Little, not so much, but Hickey believes he can convince him to his side. Hell, he's already close to halfway there.
The outlier is that girl. Lady's person. But Cornelius Hickey is nothing if not confident: he's sure he can sway her to his side as well.

"It's foolish to ignore something like this, not when there's enough of us for a pack to count. Might as well give it a try."

Chloe doesn't think Lestat is a wolf, which is really too bad.

He thinks a differently as a wolf, there's no getting around that. But he still remembers things. He still knows who Chloe is, that she's a friend, that she's someone he can trust. Why would he forget something like how to hunt big game?

Hickey is dying on his hill, baby!

Hickey still isn't entirely sure how they communicate as wolves. It feels innate in a way that he suspects regular wolves don't have. But whatever it is, it's useful. He's not complaining.
"I've got faith in us. Give it enough time and we'll work well together."
no subject
“Well, I'm glad one of us does. I'm in.”
no subject
"Brilliant! Glad to see we'll at least have one other person in the pack who knows what she's doing."
no subject
She's never been around him as a wolf, but they do have a string between them so she's used to that strange type of communication wolves have.

“He’s been cool about it, but we’ve never been around one another as wolves.”
no subject
"Well, you know if he's weird about it, you're in the pack before him. It might have been his idea, but I don't mind playing favorites."
no subject
“Thanks, you're a mate. I'm sure it'll be fine, but sometimes as wolves it's different, right?”
no subject
"Yeah, I get it. You think differently, for one. The longer I'm a wolf...dunno. The easier it gets, in some ways."
Based on Hickey's hesitant tone of voice, that is both a good thing and a bad thing.
no subject
“Yeah. Things are… easier, I guess. Or at least less complicated. I'm more trusting.”
no subject
Hickey doesn't want to think about the fact that part of him feels that he's better suited to be an animal.

It's maybe not one hundred percent true - there are things she's done that make guilt squirm in her gut like a living thing - but she wants it to be.
“As a wolf, so much is on instinct. It's sort of nice to have friends without complications.”
no subject
"Right? Too much of things, even here, there's complications for no reason. Just because people feel that's how it should be. It's nice to have something real for once."
no subject
She’d rolled over for Kostya and like, he's a friend but she doesn't do that for anyone!
