And John is going to launch himself at the door as well, because like hell is he letting someone get away with Arthur's body. ~~Someone is still angry about how things went down at the Boarding House, all right?~~

"Back the fuck up!" And those tentacles, all four of them are separate and seemingly poised to 'strike'(well, three of them; one of them is sort of peering around like it's trying to figure out why nice sleepy morning turned into drama but he'll figure it out in a moment and snap to).

"What the fuck is what?"

"That!" said as he points at a tentacle. "You! All of this! Randvi and I already took care of that demon, why the hell is there another one?!"

Because that's what this is, right? A demon. A demon like that white pallid thing that haunted and murdered people in their sleep, only this one is large. And black. And tentacled. And...Canadian?

What the fuck indeed.

As he talks with John, Dorian moves a hand behind him as he tries to find the doorknob. He's not making a break for freedom yet, but he certainly wants the option to. After all, every cell in his body is telling him that he should book it.

John doesn't look, instead choosing to move it forward between them, sloooowly.

"It's my arm. Which you'd know if you were Arthur. But you're not Arthur, so who the fuck are you and why the fuck are you in his body?"

That probably should be less growling, if he's trying to talk this out, but John's never had the best temper. And it hasn't gotten any better recently.

"I'm not a demon," and that's still snarled, yup, no loss in heat, "and my name is John. Arthur is my partner."

Dorian's mind is still in the 'flight' area of 'fight or flight.' Because this entire situation? This isn't good! This thing obviously doesn't know what's going on and frankly, he'd rather figure things out by himself, not trapped in a room with a demon. He'd certainly have a much better chance!

"If I knew what had happened, do you think I'd have started the conversation with 'what the hell did you do to me'?" Dorian sasses, with a little roll of his eyes. "Use your head. Obviously I've got no idea what's going on. Hell, you've got a better chance of knowing what happened considering you live with this Arthur fellow."

His hand has brushed up against the doorknob. Dorian isn't leaving yet, but he grasps the doorknob, adjusting his position slightly so that he can back away from the tentacle and also hide what he's doing. He's not leaving yet—but he is lining up the pieces to fucking book it.

"Use your head, asshole," he snaps back, "considering you're acting like I'm going to hurt you when you're in my partner's body and you elbowed me in the face for being asleep next to you."

Fucker.

He catches the movement, because when has John Doe existed when he wasn't constantly in danger and he's had to be the eyes for two people for most of it, but he's not moving yet.

"Given you're the one who's in his body and I'm in my body, you've got a lot more fucking reason to know what's going on and you might just be trying to trick me!"

"Obviously I elbowed you in the face, I don't know you. Any reasonable person would elbow someone who they don't know in the face if they woke up next to them."

Dorian's elbowing was valid and he will die on this hill. He's still tense, ready to bolt and get the hell out of here, before pointing out,

"I'm in the body of someone I've never met and someone who you're sleeping with." Which urgh, right, this Arthur person is probably sleeping with John, love yourself buddy. "You know more about this than I do! Your Arthur, has he...I don't know, had any odd dreams lately? Any visits from Enola? Hell, this could be one of those odd Aurora gifts, just implemented weirdly."

"What could they possibly do to you while they're asleep?" Before a muttered "asshole" and he huffs again.

"And no, he hasn't had any dreams with Enola. Not since last month, when we both did. And I don't know shit, because nothing in the dream said anything about switching bodies with a dickhead."

There's a long list of things that people could do to you while you're asleep, but that's part of the battle Dorian doesn't want to fight. However, he will take offense at that last part.

"Oh, so I'm a dickhead? Me, someone who had no control over this situation, who still knows absolutely nothing about the person who's body I'm in? I'm a dickhead? Well pardon me John, the next time I'm rudely thrust into someone's body without even a word of warning or the next time I wake up next to something I've never seen before, I'll try to be nice about it!"

He is really starting to dislike this guy.

Dorian took his Arthur away. John is so far beyond 'doesn't like' he can see the back end.

"You say you had no control, but how do I know that's the truth? Arthur was asleep. I know, because I was with him. He can't do anything like this!" He rolls his eyes. Hard. "And I don't know what the fuck you are either, other than a thing in my partner. Do you even have a body of your own or did you just steal his?"

"Even if I tell you who I am, I suspect you won't believe me." John seems bound and determined to make Dorian the bad guy. Even if he explains himself and explains his situation, Dorian knows he won't be trusted. Dorian knows he'll just get more questions, more skepticism, more 'what did you do with Arthur.' He's starting to suspect he won't find any answers here. The longer he stays, the more he'll have to deal with a demon having a hissy fit. He just needs to find the right answer to get this thing off of his case so he can do some proper investigation.

...granted, Dorian knows that what he's going to say next isn't the right answer. But there's something about the implication of him, of Dorian Gray purposefully stealing Arthur's body that rubs him the wrong way. This man is what, 35? Ew!

"Why would I want this body? Look at it. It's missing a finger, it's got bite marks, it's just so old." Dorian moves a hand back, adjusting bangs that his own body has but that Arthur's doesn't. As he does so, his hand grazes the side of Arthur's ear and the whining continues. "He's missing part of his ear! If I'm going to steal a body, which I won't, my actual body is perfectly fine, I'm not going to take one that's damaged goods."

Been there, done that, tortured his own body until things went back to normal.

John is growling, but he isn't moving. And it's obvious that he's getting more and more pissed off as Dorian talks about Arthur, his Arthur, Arthur who's survived so much, Arthur who's so fucking strong. His temper is flaring and if Dorian wasn't in Arthur's body, there is a definite question of whether his head would still be on his shoulders.

But he is. And John might be angry but he'd never harm Arthur's body purposefully.

He just wants Arthur back.

"So you've got a body," and oh, he is rumbling, "then let's go find it and see if Arthur is there."

The tone says, in no uncertain terms, that if he never sees Dorian again, it'll be too soon. He just wants Arthur.

"And then we can get you switched back so I never have to talk to you again."

"I'm going to find my body and see if Arthur is there," Dorian corrects John. "You are going to stay here. If I slept with someone and then suddenly woke up somewhere else, the first thing I would do is make sure the other person is alright. The first place Arthur will think to return is his home. And when that happens, you should be there."

Dorian knows Arthur would try to return to John simply because that's exactly what Dorian himself would do. If Toby were here (if Toby were alive) and all of this happened, that would be Dorian's first thought: check on Toby. Make sure Toby is fine. Considering how focused John seems to be about Arthur, he suspects Arthur is the same way.

"There's no use going about this with us both running around like idiots. I'm coming up with a plan. It will be best if you follow it."

Yeah, we're back to growling. He's not moving. He's not arguing And it's clear that he's considering it? But his eyes narrow hard at Dorian.

"If you, or Arthur, don't come back here within an hour, I will hunt you down." And, from his tone, Dorian will not like what happens after that point. "Understood?"

"Two hours," Dorian retorts. "Milton is a small town, but it isn't that small."

Plus, there's part of him that just wants to be a bit petty. This thing isn't going to boss him around like that. "Other than that, I accept your proposal."

"One hour," John repeats, and steps back. "Or you'll see me in two."

"Two hours it is!" Dorian chirps. He gives John a jaunty little wave before turning to leave.

Yeah, he's not going to do what this thing wants. Sorry not sorry!
