Marksmanship
A few days after putting up his note, Levi has set up a little row of bottles and cans on a fence near the gas station. He's got a shotgun, a handgun (his back up gun) and a rifle (not his) so any prospective students can try them out. None are currently loaded, since ammo is limited and he's decided to go over form/basics before shooting.

If anyone shown interest in his lessons he'll be around adjusting things or gathering trash from around the gas station for people to shoot at. He's brought his bow and arrows, so occasionally he can be found doing his own target practice with that.


Bob and Weave
Earlier Rorschach had managed to find and set up a boxing bag in a garage. He even gave Levi some pointers, but now Levi's back on his own. He has his oversized coat off and his rifle and satchel resting against one of the walls and Levi is alternating between practicing his form vs the air and punching the bag. Aside from the lesson Rorschach gave him, he got a few boxing tips during those last few days in Prehevil, but he's still pretty new at it. Why not come by and chat? He may be able to pass on a few pointers even at this early a stage in his education.

Levi's not really sure what possessed him to eat that mushroom. Finding a lot of them seemed good, he started picking them so he could bring them back into town for easier access. But they all looked so good, he just had to have one.
He really wishes Olivia was here, though, she could have told him which ones not to eat. Under normal conditions, at least. Because as it turned out the one he picked as a snack was a horrible choice.

He doesn't notice anything at first, then it was just small things he could try to avoid looking at. (Because if something was wrong with him, he needed to not be in the woods.) He almost gets back to town before it all becomes too much. Before the sights and sounds and smells of the front line trenches and Prehevil intrude too much for him to continue.

The mushrooms have been forgotten, dropped on the ground in a little trail that will lead to Levi himself. He's huddled under a tree and clutching his rifle like the security blanket it is.

He looks up from rearranging the targets and offers Randvi a smile. "Yeah! A-after what happened. Um, you know. But I though it might be a good idea if more people knew how to handle a gun incase they need to."

So they don't do stupid things, like shoot at the sky.

“It's the weapon that I've seen you carrying before, isn't it? I don't know much about them.” Or anything, really.

[solitarysoul]

He nods. "Mine is a rifle, but there area lot of different kinds of firearms--ah, that's another word for 'gun.' Most of the guns here are just three types, though. They're all pretty good beginner guns, though. If someone wants to learn how to use one."

[meadqueen]

“Right now we need any edge we can get, I think.” A weapon likely won't do much against that horrible creature, but it's not the only threat they face here. “Are these common weapons in the future? Can you show me?”

"They are where...uh, when? Whatever. Where I came from. Ammunition is limited here, since we can't make it as easily as arrows. But, um," he's kept the spare guns next to the fence the targets are on so he heads over to there and picks up the handgun.

"This one's a revolver. They're easy to wield and usually only take one hand to fire."

[Compared to the one Levi habitually carries with him, this one is surprisingly small.]

What type of projectile does it use, a stone?

[solitarysoul]

They use bullets. They're, um, little metal things and the gun uses explosive powder to send them flying really far and fast. So there's quite a bit of kick back when the gun fires. This one should have the lowest of the one I have out.

[meadqueen]

I see. [Yes, she had met someone recovering from damage caused by such a bullet when she’d arrived here. Randvi knows what these guns can do.] If you had unlimited ammunition, would you use these to hunt?

[solitarysoul]

I would. I have a lot more experience with these. I never used a bow before I started learning how to here. And they're pretty powerful, I can kill most things in a single shot.

But a gunshot is pretty loud so that can make hunting harder if you need to bag multiple things. And the bullet wound is usually a lot worse than an arrow leaves. So I guess there are good sides and bad sides.

[meadqueen]

These bullets cannot be reused, I'd imagine. [Explosion sounds pretty final.] I can trade you lessons with the bow in exchange for lessons with this gun.

[solitarysoul]

No...well, you might be able to melt them down to make new ones with the proper tools or something, but here once they're used that's it.

[He smiles.]

Oh, could you? I've had a couple lessons but not much. Reading about it isn't the same as real training.

[meadqueen]

I used to roam in the mountains near my village as a girl, so my sister taught me to hunt with a bow. It's not typically what I would use in battle.

[solitarysoul]

[He nods. That made sense, she was from a time before guns so a bow and arrow was probably the easiest way to attack at long range.]

I don't think I'd use a bow in battle anyway. If there's something that shows up that we need to fight my rifle would be better.

[meadqueen]

[She’d put it to good use in that fight against the giant sea serpent, shooting a flaming arrow into its mouth, but generally she prefers her hammer.]

Fortunately that does not seem to happen too often.

There've been a few times...the wolves early on and that snake thing a couple months ago. I don't know how long until the next thing, but so far they've been rare. Thankfully.

[meadqueen]

Yes, I've heard about the wolves. Strange that they're attacking less often, but perhaps you taught them a lesson.

[solitarysoul]

I think we must have. But its also possible whatever was wrong with them is, uh, over. Either they got better or all the infected ones died.

I keep expecting it to happen again, though. At least they were loud.

[meadqueen]

From what I have seen so far, the horrors here are at least usually unique.

[solitarysoul]

Yeah. We have wolves where I came from, but they didn't glow and they weren't so aggressive. And our snakes weren't nearly as big.

[The wolves, on the other hand, could be huge.]

So its all, like, sort of familiar but worse and more dangerous. I think we just have to be ready for anything.

[meadqueen]

And we see these snakes for a few weeks and then not again afterward. It does feel sometimes as if this place is throwing everything it has at us to see what sticks.

Its almost like it's throwing different things at us to see which does the most.

Or it could just be different things active in different times. I don't know if things are targeted at us or they just happen. Unless something is responsible and comes out and tells us I don't think we'll ever know, though.

They feel targeted, but it may simply be because we are the only people remaining here.

[solitarysoul]

Yeah...it could be at this place instead of at us. But something DID bring us here, so I guess that still makes it at us.

That god doesn't seem pleased at our presence. I suppose a god could do anything.

Yeah. Gods can do all sorts of shit and they don't care about us. I think there are at least two here so that makes it even worse.
