So what is this - hungry enough to serve man for dinner?
[He wouldn't judge if that was the case, while it wasn't a path he could take yet, he understood it. There were still other options, in his opinion, even as hungry as he was.]

( But, hey, whatever people want to do with their time, right? )
Fat. It's flammable, it burns. This guy looks like he has enough to be useful. I can leave the edible parts for you, if you want.
no subject
What? God no. I got more respect for the dead than that. [For now, anyway.]
Why- You know we got wood around here right? These big ass trees? Shit, broken chairs? Sacrifice a table? That axe could get you a lot more than some random man's asscheek will.

( Scratch isn't arguing. Hell, he has quite a pretty pile of chopped wood sitting outside his cabin in the back. Until now, chopping wood has been his only outlet for any sort of aggression. )
Consider this an accelerant. Better to have it and not need than need it and not have it.

You got a name?
no subject
Alan. You?

[Another 50/50 chance that someone will understand what he's saying, what he's asking.]

( He realizes he's being contradictory. This place is probably making survivalist preppers out of all of them, though, so he's not going to feel too foolish about it. )
This place is probably going to kill most of us before we figure out how to get back home. I'd like to at least give myself the best odds I can.
no subject
I'm not sure there is a way back home, least one that doesn't include us bleedin' out into the snow. Not sure we're at ass fat levels of hard pressed, but as long as you ain't carvin' it off someone alive and bleedin'...

It's probably only a matter of time. People will always turn on each other to try and be the last to survive. )
Then let's call this a test run. A fun little experiment to pass the time so when the real crisis hits, it won't be a guessing game.
no subject
'Fun', huh? [Great. His gut had been right the first time. This guy is fucking nuts, and Raylan doesn't for a second believe that this is just due to the environmental pressures they were under.]
You the one that made him a corpse?
no subject
( Some people just don't listen, do they? Besides, he'd only killed Alan Lawrence, and that man was not worthy enough to be used in any other way. Scratch had left his body to the scavengers in the woods. )
People are killing and being killed all over the place. It's not hard to find a body left behind right now.
no subject
Mmhmm. How many other bodies you seen today? If someone's goin' around killin' people, then someone's gotta stop 'em. [Spoken in the most calm and rational tone of voice. Just a fact, like the color of the sky or the freshly fallen snow.]
no subject
( Honestly, Scratch isn't sure how many people, but he knows he's killed someone and he knows Louis's killed someone, so that's multiple people which makes his statement true. )
I found a body in the woods with it's throat fucked up, and it didn't look like any animal did that.
no subject
Any idea if we got any of those.. wha'dya call 'em, tree talkers around?
